Public Intervention in Berlin, Germany

Stickers

'Foh-nee-tik' is a sticker collection comprised of hundreds of labels which identify objects in public space through English phonetics of German words. This project was inspired by the stickers a student finds in the back of German language learning books which are intended to be used within the household in aiding German development and linking vocabulary visually with its definition. 'Foh-nee-tik' makes use of the same principals except within the public realm, without identifying of the English or German term. The labels only contain the phonetic version of the term. As a result, German and English readers of the stickers are equally foreign to the language.
